What you’ll experience in The Art Habit…

The Art Habit includes weekly time-saving art plans and process-based art experiences that children enjoy. Perfect for ages 2-7.

With the help of arts educator, Rachelle Doorley, you’ll experience art projects that engage your child’s imagination and provide you with quality together time.

Best of all, these low-stress projects don’t take a ton of time to prepare and set up.

This 5-week program can be experienced on your own time and takes place in our virtual classroom. Each week you’ll receive an art lesson, journal prompts, and two process-oriented art lessons (Art Starters) that focus on drawing, painting, building, printmaking, collage, or sensory play.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to know you could

  • find the time to set up art projects?
  • have a planned activity laid out for your kids without thinking too much about what to do?
  • keep your child’s interest for longer than it takes you to set up the materials?
  • feel more organized with the help of a solid plan?
  • have fun with your little one while exposing them to art?

If you struggle to find time to support your child’s creativity, it IS possible to build an art-making habit that feels light and easy.

What’s holding you back?

  • Lack of Time.Finding the time to get everything out, do a project, and then clean up feels impossible.
  • Not enough Space. You live in a tiny and cluttered home with no extra space to spare.
  • No Ideas. It’s hard to come up with art projects that don’t leave you and your child frustrated.
  • Mess and Stuff. You try to live minimally and while you love homemade things, a lot of “stuff” overwhelms you.

Not too long ago, I had all of these concerns

I was a mom to a toddler and worked at a museum where I trained docents and gallery teachers. After a long day of teaching, finding time to make playdough and dinner and do the laundry left me overwhelmed and exhausted.

We also lived in a tiny house, filled with far too many things. When anything new came in the front door (I’m looking at you, watercolor box), my husband would unleash his anxiety around all the stuff.

On top of this, while I had tons of experience teaching art to children over the age of five, I didn’t know where to begin with my toddler. While I was training gallery teachers to teach printmaking techniques to adult visitors, it was clear that my toddler might have to start with something more simple than that. But what?

I wanted to support my child’s creativity with developmentally appropriate, high quality arts experiences but I had so little time, and it wasn’t clear where to begin.

And then I realized…

If I wanted to change my life, I had to change my habits.

I left my job at the museum and decided to dedicate myself to learning everything I could about early childhood art.

I was inspired to figure out how to support creativity at home with a goal of writing a book once I cracked the code.

Within three years I had a book deal, and a year later we published a best-selling book on the topic.

By this time I was a mama to two kiddos and writing a popular blog on childhood creativity. Once again I was lacking in time, but now I had the tools to support artmaking with my kids.

What I learned along the way is that supporting creativity at home can feel light and easy with the right mindset and tools.

The families I’ve seen succeed at this program are those who see the merits of open-ended art projects. They want to connect with their children through art. They enjoy watching their childrens’ imaginations bloom.

With the right mindset, it’s easy to get past the concerns and limits of time, space, and ideas.

Enroll in The Art Habit and you’ll get access to:

  • Methods that simplify your life and build a sustainable family art habit
  • Light and easy ArtStarters that celebrate process and creativity
  • Video lessons
  • Helpful guides that explore topics in art education
  • Facebook Support Group
  • Tips to help you say YES to art making

The Art Habit is for you if you…
